The host also shares his thoughts on Rose’s self-elimination in Madrid.

Each week, The Bachelor host Jesse Palmer answers a few questions about Grant’s journey to find love. In this installment, he reflects on the face-off between Carolina and Juliana during the group date, Rose’s decision to leave the show in Madrid, and much more.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Madrid is known for its incredible food, but we didn’t see Grant and the women explore the local cuisine. Jesse, you’re our guide—what was the best meal you had while in Madrid?

JESSE PALMER: I actually celebrated my birthday in Madrid! My wife, Emely, took me to an amazing restaurant called Coque, where the meal was outstanding. The experience was theatrical and immersive, making it a birthday I’ll never forget.

During the group date, the women participated in the first-ever “batalla del toro.” Alexe stayed on the bull the longest, but Zoe ended up winning after copying Alexe’s “bull by the horns” technique. Do you think Alexe had a right to be upset, or is it all part of the fun when it comes to mechanical bull rides?

They say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” While Zoe’s technique wasn’t the most original, it was certainly the most effective in the end.

Carolina told the women that she feels like she “barely knows” Grant, which upset Juliana. What did you think of how Juliana confronted Carolina about this?

I thought Juliana and Carolina handled the situation very maturely. Despite their opposing views, they had a calm and respectful conversation, and I commend them for keeping the tone level-headed. We’ve seen in previous seasons that such discussions can easily escalate, but this one remained civil.

At the group date cocktail party, Rose and Grant had an honest conversation about the drama from the previous week, and it seemed like things were on a positive path. What did you think about Rose’s decision to leave before the rose ceremony?

I don’t want to speak for Rose, but it seemed that the emotional toll from the prior weeks, especially after her conversation with Carolina, affected her deeply. It looked like Rose made the decision to go home for her own well-being, and I respect that choice.

Grant and Sarafiena went bungee jumping in the rain on their date. Why does the show insist on making him jump off tall structures when he’s afraid of heights?

Did Grant lie on his application saying he loved jumping off high places? [laughs] At some point, there has to be a limit on this! I can’t imagine how many more of these stunts we’ll see, especially with weeks left in the show.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
