Large Fire Breaks Out at Epcot’s France Pavilion in Disney World: “Oh My God, It’s Right There”
A fire erupted Saturday evening at Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Orlando, originating from a walk-in cooler located in a backstage area of the France pavilion, Entertainment Weekly has confirmed.
The cooler, situated in an employees-only section not accessible to guests, caught fire but was quickly extinguished before the flames could spread. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Video footage captured by a park guest aboard the Skyliner shows thick black smoke rising from the area between the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure attraction and nearby walkways leading into the Morocco pavilion. “Oh my God, it’s right there!” a startled onlooker exclaims as flames and smoke fill the sky.

Additional videos shared online show the smoke plume visible from areas outside the park, including the nearby Boardwalk resort area.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Walt Disney World Resort and the Orlando Fire Department for further details.
This incident is not the first fire to impact a Disney park in recent years. In 2023, Disneyland in California experienced a similar event when the Maleficent dragon animatronic caught fire during a Fantasmic! show, prompting Disney to retire the pyrotechnic element later that year.
Epcot is one of four major parks at Walt Disney World, alongside Magic Kingdom (opened in 1971), Disney’s Hollywood Studios (originally Disney-MGM Studios, opened in 1989), and Animal Kingdom, which debuted in 1998.
