Season 13 of The Masked Singer is shaping up to be a whirlwind of chaos, beauty, fun, and emotion, according to panelist Rita Ora. Returning for her third season as a judge on the U.S. version of the show, Ora promises fans a wild ride, with talent that will leave them wondering, “How did they get this person?”

Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Ora to preview the new season, including details on the mischievous Lucky Duck character, her guessing strategy, and what viewers can expect from the competition.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: This season introduces a new character, Lucky Duck, and Fox has hinted at a connection to someone on the show, much like Season 5’s Cluedle-Doo. So, here’s a burning question: Is Lucky Duck your husband, Taika Waititi?

RITA ORA: [Laughs.] I wish! Honestly, I love this show so much. I’ve spent enough time with the producers to try to guess their moves, but they always manage to surprise me. I mean, Jenny’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg, was part of a big twist not too long ago, so I can’t say for sure. But I will say, there are plenty of behavioral clues this season that could give something away. It’s always fun because it’s not just about the celebrity under the mask, but about their loved ones, too. You’ll just have to wait and see!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Since Lucky Duck is such a key addition this season, what can you tell us about their role?

RITA ORA: Oh, Lucky Duck is definitely up to no good! Think of them as the naughty kid in class—popping up at random times, messing with people’s prep before performances. It’s all very chaotic, which actually reminds me a lot of Taika. [Laughs.]

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Fox is calling this the “Lucky 13” season. Does that theme play a role in the episodes?

RITA ORA: Absolutely! The “Lucky 13” theme really sets the tone for the whole season. While each episode has its own specific theme, “Lucky 13” is the thread that ties everything together. The themes, costumes, and surprises this year are all designed to keep things fresh and exciting. It’s been a blast to work on, and the camaraderie between me, Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong, and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg just keeps getting better. We really feel like a family at this point.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You’ve been part of the show for a few seasons now. How do you approach your guesses this time around?

RITA ORA: I’m definitely a bit more relaxed this season. I’ve realized that if I don’t know something, I can just go with my gut and enjoy the ride. Jenny’s great at connecting the dots from previous clues, but I’ve kind of taken a different approach this year. I’m more spontaneous with my guesses. When I get excited about a celebrity I love, I just go for it—reciting lyrics or pointing out moments in their careers that only true fans would know. It’s always a fun surprise when I get it right!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You mentioned that the celebrities this season are next-level. Can you elaborate?

RITA ORA: Oh, it’s truly “how did they get this person?” insane! There’s one person in particular—I’m a huge fan of theirs, and when I found out they were part of the show, I was shocked. As a fan, I know everything about this person, so I can’t wait for you all to see who it is. It’s going to be very obvious once the mask comes off!

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: What are you most excited for fans to experience this season?

RITA ORA: Honestly, I can’t wait for fans to try to figure out who’s behind the masks. This season is full of surprises, and I don’t think people will guess as easily as in previous years. The producers have some incredible new tricks up their sleeves, and the music is better than ever. The costumes are amazing, and the entire season is just pure chaos—but in the best way. It’s funny, emotional, and full of heartwarming moments. It doesn’t even feel like work to me because I love it so much!
