Hannover 96 Bundesliga Germany League Ugly Sweater
When Hannover 96 played their last match in the Bundesliga, they took to the field in an ugly sweater. Sporting a “refugees welcome” message on their chest, Hannover 96 wanted to send a message to the rest of the league: We are here, we are safe and we are not going anywhere. While this particular act of activism may have been largely symbolic, it speaks to the bigger issue of immigration in Europe and the global refugee crisis.
Millions of people are fleeing their homes each year, and many end up in dire conditions on the journey.
Many are left without a home or any hope for a better future. In this climate of fear and uncertainty, it’s important that we continue to show kindness and compassion to those who are struggling. With so much division and negativity in the world, it’s nice to see a League club take a stand in support of refugees. Thank you Hannover 96 for your courageous message.
