The History of Jason Voorhees
Jason Voorhees is a fictional character from the Friday the 13th series. He first appeared in Friday the 13th (1980) as the young son of camp cook-turned-murderer Mrs. Voorhees, in which he was portrayed by Ari Lehman. Created by screenwriter Victor Miller, with input from producer/director Sean S. Cunningham and others, Jason was not originally intended to survive his debut film.
However, the character proved popular with audiences and subsequently returned in anumber of sequels, in which he was variously played by Warrington Gillette, Steve Dash, Ted White, Kane Hodder, Ken Kirzinger, and CJ Graham.
In the original Friday the 13th, set in 1958 at Camp Crystal Lake, then-six year old Jason apparently drowned while swimming after his mother’s murder at the hands of camp counselors. In Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), set five years later, now teenage Jason (played by Warrington Gillette) watches from woods as another group of counselors are murdered one by one around Crystal Lake.
When Ginny Fiore ( Amy Steel) finds him and attempts to help him back to camp, he instead slashes her across the face with a machete before being knocked out by her boyfriend Paul Holt (John Furey). Ginny survives but is traumatized; when Paul confronts Jason about what happened that night during a lightning storm at Crystal Lake years later in Friday the 13th:
