About the Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The Cardinals compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The Cardinals were founded as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898, and are the oldest continuously run professional football team in the United States. The team was established in Chicago in 1920 and then moved to St. Louis in 1960 before relocating to Tempe, Arizona, in 1988.
The Cardinals play their home games at State Farm Stadium, which opened in 2006 and is located in Glendale, Arizona. They are headquartered at the adjacent Cardinal Way facility near Tempe. Their training facility is located at Infinity Park at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
Since their inception, the team has won two NFL championships – both while based in Chicago. The first occurred after the 1925 season, when they won back-to-back world titles. After winning again following the 1947 season, they did not win another playoff game until 1974, when they advanced to Super Bowl IX but lost 16–6 to Pittsburgh Steelers.[1][2] In 1978, they began a string of 14 consecutive seasons with a playoff appearance that ended with a loss during Wild Card Weekend following the 2008 campaign.[3] In 2013, three years after moving to Arizona, they became NFC champions for a second time but lost Super Bowl XLIX 28–24 on February 1, 2015 against New England Patriots,[

The Cardinals are a professional American football team based in Glendale, Arizona. The Cardinals were founded as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898, and are the oldest continuously run professional football team in the United States. The Cardinals play their home games at State Farm Stadium, which opened in 2006 and is located in Glendale.
The franchise was founded on October 13, 1898, when a group led by Fred Marks turned to local businessmen for $100 to start a professional football team. The new team was named after its sponsor, the Chicago Cardinal baseball team. The first game was played on December 4 against Racine College at Normal Park. In 1902, Charles W. Bidwill Sr., whose family owned several successful businesses including coal and lumber yards, took over as owner of the team; he would eventually pass control down to his sons Bill Jr. and Charles Bidwill III. In 1920, the Cardinals became charter members of the American Professional Football Association (later renamed the National Football League). They would go on to win two NFL championships under this name before changing it to “Cardinals” in 1922 due to financial difficulties caused by World War I; they have since won two more NFL championships since then.
