Celine Dion has made it clear that her iconic hit “My Heart Will Go On” has no place at Donald Trump’s campaign rallies. The Canadian singer took to Instagram on Saturday to call out the former U.S. President for using a video of her performing the song without permission at a recent rally.

“Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc., were informed of the unauthorized use of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana,” the statement read. “This use is in no way authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use.”

The statement concluded with a pointed question: “…And really, THAT song?”

The irony was not lost on Dion or her fans. “My Heart Will Go On” is famously known as the theme song for the 1997 film Titanic, which tells the story of the ill-fated ship that sank in 1912. Many of Dion’s followers couldn’t help but see the humor in the song choice, with one commenter calling it “the perfect song to play for that sinking ship.”

This isn’t the first time Dion’s name has been linked with Trump’s political activities. In 2016, she reportedly turned down an invitation to perform at his inauguration. According to The Wrap, a representative for Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn, who had suggested Dion for the event, clarified that he “was not asked to book specific performers for the inauguration, nor did he ever make a commitment to find specific performers.” Ultimately, the inauguration featured acts like 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, and Lee Greenwood.

Dion now joins a growing list of artists who have publicly opposed Trump’s use of their music at his rallies. In April, the estate of the late Sinéad O’Connor condemned Trump for playing her 1990 hit “Nothing Compares 2 U” at several events, stating that “Sinéad would have been disgusted, hurt, and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone she referred to as a ‘biblical devil.'”

Other musicians who have spoken out against Trump’s unauthorized use of their music include Pharrell, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, Adele, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Neil Young, Rihanna, Ozzy Osbourne, Nickelback, Linkin Park, The Rolling Stones, Village People, Panic! at the Disco, Queen, R.E.M., and the estates of Tom Petty, Laura Branigan, Prince, and George Harrison. Despite these objections, Trump has continued to use their songs without permission at his events.
