The iconic residence in Winnetka, Illinois, sold for $5 million, only days after being listed for $5.25 million. Listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor of Coldwell Banker Realty expressed their excitement about the sale. “We’re thrilled with how this home captured everyone’s attention and hearts due to its well-deserved place in cinematic history and the timeless holiday memories it evokes,” they told PEOPLE.

The house, originally built in 1921, underwent a major renovation in 2018 by its previous owners, Tim and Trisha Johnson, who bought it in 2012 for $1.585 million. “Sometimes we’ll hear the Kevin scream [from outside],” Trisha shared earlier this year. “It’s a lot of fun to see people as excited as they are just to see my house.”

Even Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin admitted to being tempted to purchase the house. “I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles,” he said earlier this month. “I’ve got kids. I’m a busy man,” he added, brushing off the idea.
