Ali Wong is set to premiere her latest comedy special, “Single Lady,” on Netflix this month, following her recent divorce.

The acclaimed comedian and Emmy winner asserts that turning 40 is a prime time for new beginnings, particularly in the realm of relationships. In the trailer for “Ali Wong: Single Lady,” she humorously highlights the advantages of dating men in their 60s, quipping, “You get to hear a story he already told you on Tuesday! And he’ll repeat it on Friday! Like that half-court shot he made back in 1985.”

Set to debut on October 8, Wong’s fourth original special will delve into her experiences of life after divorce and her journey to find love after separating from her husband, Justin Hakuta, in 2022.

As a newly single woman, Wong jokes about her expanded dating pool: “I could date someone as young as 25 or as old as 55.” However, she does have some practical inquiries for those in their mid-50s: “Can you go for a brisk walk? Can you lift heavy things? Can you enjoy red meat without suffering the next day?”

Wong has been romantically linked to comedian and actor Bill Hader since 2023. The couple made headlines earlier this year by attending both the Emmy Awards and Golden Globes together, where Wong and her “Beef” team took home several awards.

“We’re very selectively private,” Wong shared with Access Hollywood on the Emmy red carpet, addressing her relationship. When asked about the kiss they shared after her Golden Globe win, she noted, “We’ve been together for a minute. I guess people didn’t know. But we’re both in our 40s and parents, so…”

Wong took on the roles of director and executive producer for “Single Lady,” which was filmed during her residency at The Wiltern in Los Angeles as part of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest in May. This special follows her previous works, including “Don Wong” (2022), “Hard Knock Wife” (2018), and “Baby Cobra” (2016). She also starred in the romantic comedy “Always Be My Maybe” alongside Randall Park and voiced a character in “Big Mouth.”
