Anna Kendrick Forgets She Was in Twilight: ‘Oh My God’
Anna Kendrick recently shared her amusing struggle with remembering her role in the Twilight franchise. During an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, she recalled a humorous tweet she made: “Holy shit. I just remembered I was in Twilight.” This led to reactions from fans who were shocked by her statement. Kendrick clarified, saying, “Yes and no. Obviously, I didn’t forget the experience of making the movies.”
She explained that the Twilight films took on a life of their own, becoming a cultural touchstone that often came up in industry conversations. “I’d hear about new book series getting optioned, and I’d suddenly remember, ‘Oh my god, I’m in that,'” she laughed.
Kendrick noted that she always felt “on the outside” of the massive hype surrounding the films. “I was lucky not to be in the eye of the storm,” she said, contrasting her experience with that of her co-stars like Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who faced intense scrutiny from fans. “Those involved, especially the supernatural characters, couldn’t even leave their hotel rooms without being mobbed.”
In the first four Twilight films, Kendrick portrayed Jessica Stanley, one of the few human characters in the series. Despite her character’s portrayal as a “blonde, athletic, volleyball captain,” she formed a friendship with Stewart’s Bella and even delivered a speech at Bella’s wedding in Breaking Dawn – Part 1.
Kendrick appreciated that her role allowed her to avoid the intense pressure faced by her co-stars, stating, “It felt like I didn’t have to run the gauntlet.” Her character’s comedic lines offered a break from the seriousness of the saga: “I just had to show up and say dumb, funny stuff.”
Despite enjoying her role, Kendrick has shared less fond memories of filming, describing her experience as “cold and miserable.” Reflecting on the shoot, she mentioned, “I just remember my Converse being completely soaked through and thinking, ‘This is a great group of people, but I want to murder everyone.'”
