Disney World Unveils 13 Villains for ‘Twisted’ New Villains Land: ‘A Dark Adventure Awaits’

Disney World’s upcoming Villains Land will take guests on a dark, thrilling journey, featuring a lineup of 13 iconic villains in a storyline that promises to turn the Magic Kingdom upside down.

The highly anticipated expansion of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park will introduce a new themed area inspired by some of Disney’s most notorious antagonists. Revealed at the D23 Brazil convention, Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro shared exciting new details about the land, which will center on a mysterious magic spell that brings together villains from every realm, uniting them for a “twisted” adventure.

“Villains are the ultimate source of endless storytelling possibilities,” D’Amaro said, addressing the crowd. “In this new land, you’ll encounter the villains you know and love to hate, and the whole experience will be unlike anything we’ve ever done before.”

The 13 villains making an appearance in the new land include fan-favorites such as the Queen of Hearts (Alice in Wonderland), Jafar (Aladdin), Lady Tremaine (Cinderella), Yzma (The Emperor’s New Groove), and Cruella de Vil (101 Dalmatians), as well as other baddies like Captain Hook (Peter Pan), Gaston (Beauty and the Beast), Mother Gothel (Tangled), Ursula (The Little Mermaid), Hades (Hercules), Chernabog (Fantasia), and both versions of the Evil Queen (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) and Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty).

D’Amaro teased a chilling storyline for the land, which revolves around a dark spell that summons all these villains to one location. “In our story, a mysterious spell has been cast, pulling villains from every realm together,” he explained. “In this land, heroes don’t come to the rescue — and there may not be a happily ever after.”

The announcement of Villains Land first made waves at the D23 Expo in Anaheim earlier this year, where the audience erupted in applause at the reveal. “This land will be home to the villains you love to loathe,” D’Amaro said, emphasizing the scale and ambition of the new attraction. “Expect a grand, twisted experience like nothing Disney has ever done before.”

Concept art for the area teases a variety of thrilling attractions, dining, and shopping experiences, including a dramatic roller coaster and a fiery Maleficent dragon. While the land’s specific opening date has yet to be confirmed, Disney has hinted it will debut in the near future.

In addition to Villains Land, other major updates are coming to Disney World, including a new Indiana Jones-themed ride replacing the Dinosaur attraction at Animal Kingdom. This is part of a larger overhaul of the Dinoland U.S.A. area, which will transform into a Central America-inspired region, complete with an Encanto-themed ride.

“We’re bringing more stories to life and making the parks even better,” D’Amaro said in a recent interview. “We know what our guests expect from us, and we’re fully committed to delivering. There’s more to come, and we want our guests to be part of this journey with us.”

While the official opening date for Villains Land remains a mystery, fans can look forward to an immersive, darkly captivating experience when it finally opens at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
