Donnie Wahlberg Reveals the Blue Bloods Episode Jenny McCarthy Loved When They First Started Dating
Donnie Wahlberg recently shared a funny memory involving his wife, Jenny McCarthy, and one of his least favorite episodes of Blue Bloods—the very one McCarthy loved when they started dating.
During a PaleyFest panel for the CBS series, Wahlberg recounted how McCarthy praised the season 3 episode “Greener Grass,” which aired in 2012. In the episode, his character, Danny Reagan, is offered a high-paying job as a personal security guard, a storyline that Wahlberg admits he wasn’t too fond of. “It drove me crazy,” he said, explaining that the premise didn’t feel very realistic to him. “I’m five foot nine. Who’s going to hire me for that?”
Despite his reservations, McCarthy had a different view. Wahlberg recalled that when they first started dating, she told him, “You know what I really love is that one where you got the job offer to be a personal assistant. That’s my favorite episode!”
Wahlberg humorously credited the episode’s writer, Dan Truly, who was present at the event, saying, “Thanks, Dan. You really helped seal the deal!”
The couple met in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. While McCarthy has never officially appeared on Blue Bloods, she’s very much part of the show’s extended family. According to Wahlberg’s co-star Bridget Moynahan, McCarthy often calls Wahlberg during the filming of the famous Reagan family dinner scenes. “She’s like that extra person at the family dinner,” Moynahan joked during an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show. “In between takes, it’s always, ‘Hi, honey,’ and we’re all like, ‘Jenny!’ So she’s always there.”
