At the 2024 Emmys in Los Angeles on Sunday night, Catherine O’Hara had a heartwarming reunion with her Schitt’s Creek family. The moment was sparked by a surprise appearance from Annie Murphy, who joined co-hosts Dan and Eugene Levy to present the final award of the night for Outstanding Comedy Series. However, a bit of miscommunication added a comedic twist to the proceedings.
Dan Levy greeted Murphy with enthusiasm, “Oh my gosh. It’s my TV sister, Annie Murphy. What’s up, Annie?”

Dan added, “So Annie, we’re actually here to present that person, which is—”
“Isn’t me,” Murphy interjected, before joining Dan in introducing their “favorite TV mom,” Catherine O’Hara.
O’Hara took the stage to present the award for Hacks, but not before playfully questioning why only one winner had to be chosen. She humorously stalled by tearing up the card with the winner’s name (only to later produce a backup copy) to the audience’s surprise. “Must we? Yes, apparently we must,” she quipped.
Schitt’s Creek, co-created by Dan and Eugene Levy, follows the wealthy Rose family—patriarch Johnny (Eugene), a video store magnate, and matriarch Moira (O’Hara), a soap opera star—who lose their fortune overnight. They are forced to rebuild their lives in the small town of Schitt’s Creek, where a dilapidated motel is their only remaining asset. The show, which ran for six seasons from 2015 to 2020, began on CBC in Canada and later gained massive popularity on Netflix.
The series concluded its run with a triumphant final season, sweeping the 2020 Emmys with nine awards, including honors for the four main stars. The cast and crew, including Emily Hampshire, Sarah Levy, Chris Elliott, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reid, and Dustin Milligan, celebrated the show’s legacy and the special bond shared among the Rose family.
