Kelly Reilly on the Future of Yellowstone: “If Taylor Wants to Write It, I Would Want to Do It”
While Yellowstone is coming to an end, the story may not be finished just yet.
Recent reports indicated that stars Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, who portray Rip and Beth, are in discussions to continue their characters’ journeys beyond the series finale, which is set to air in December. Reilly confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that these conversations are underway, saying, “There’s potentially another chapter. It’s being talked about now.”
“Nothing is set in stone,” she added. “But if Taylor wants to write it, I would want to do it. That’s it. He’s the one who crafted every single line I’ve ever delivered. Beth came from his imagination. We both agree that there needs to be a shift, though. You can’t keep telling the same story. Yellowstone as we know it is ending, but if there’s more to explore with some characters, it will be a bit different.”
This isn’t the first discussion surrounding a continuation of the show. After the announcement that Yellowstone would conclude with Season 5, Paramount revealed a new series titled 2024 to follow the events of the flagship show. Although casting details were never confirmed, many speculated that Matthew McConaughey could lead the new series, as creator Taylor Sheridan had previously expressed interest in working with him.
“He seems like a natural fit,” Sheridan said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June 2023. “We’ve had a few conversations over the years, and he responded positively to Yellowstone. He wanted to dive into a raw world clashing with the modern one. I told him, ‘That we can do.’”
However, 2024 has since been renamed The Madison, and while it’s the first present-day spinoff of Yellowstone, it hasn’t brought back any original cast members yet. The new series will feature Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, and Matthew Fox in lead roles. According to a press release, The Madison is described as a heartfelt exploration of grief and human connection, following a family from New York City in the Madison River Valley of central Montana.

As for the original series, fans are eager to see if there’s more to tell about the beloved Dutton family. In the meantime, Yellowstone is gearing up for its final episodes, set to premiere on Sunday, November 10, on Paramount Network, albeit without star Kevin Costner.
