In a lighthearted segment on “Live with Kelly & Mark,” Kelly Ripa showcased the significance of mammograms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Just a day shy of her 54th birthday, Ripa made a humorous revelation about her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos, during the discussion.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I urge everyone to schedule your mammogram screening. I just received my reminder letter; it’s that time again,” Ripa announced at the start of Tuesday’s show. She jokingly noted that this time of year prompts Consuelos to check in on her more than usual. “It’s the one time of year when Mark feels the need to call me non-stop while I’m in the vice.”

Consuelos chimed in with laughter, admitting that he typically calls “to see how everything went,” but Ripa pointed out that he often doesn’t realize she’s undergoing the test. “That’s when you and our daughter, Lola, start calling me non-stop. It’s like you have this urge to check in when I’m there,” she quipped.

To further illustrate the mammogram process, Ripa humorously laid down on a table, prompting laughter from the studio audience. “Okay, now hold your breath!” she instructed.

In response to her irritation about his frequent calls during her appointment, Consuelos joked, “If you had your Apple Watch, you could just talk to me while it’s happening,” to which Ripa replied with a laugh, “Yes, because you’re exactly who I want to talk to at that moment.”

Ripa’s segment came after an impactful information summit on Good Morning America, hosted by Robin Roberts, who has been a prominent figure in breast cancer awareness since her own diagnosis in 2007.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation emphasizes that mammograms play a crucial role in breast cancer prevention, as they can often detect lumps before they are physically noticeable and identify micro-calcifications that may indicate early signs of breast cancer.
