What is AC Milan?
AC Milan is a professional football club based in Milan, Italy. The club was formed in 1899 and has played its home games at the San Siro stadium since 1926. AC Milan are currently members of the Lega Serie A and finished as runners-up in the 2013–14 season. The team’s main rivals are Internazionale and Juventus.
How Does Lega Serie A Work?
The Italian football league, Lega Serie A, is the top flight of professional football in Italy. The league was founded in 1929 and currently has twenty clubs. The season runs from August to May with teams playing 36 matches. The first team to win the championship is awarded the Coppa Italia.
The Lega Serie A is divided into two divisions, Serie A and B, with 18 teams in each. Teams are split into three groups of six teams each and play a round-robin style tournament within their group.
The top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs. In the playoffs, the top two teams from each group play one another in a two-leg semi-final series. If the first leg is won by the lower ranked team, then they will go on to play the higher ranked team in a home-and-away final series. If the first leg is lost by either team, then a replay will be played at their original stadium.
