Milton Keynes Dons EFL English Football League Champions Ugly Sweater
Milton Keynes Dons became the English Football League champions after a 2-1 victory over Burton Albion at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. The win secured a first league title in the club’s history and their 11th overall.
The ugliest sweater in EFL history was donned by the Dons as they took to the field against Burton Albion. Inspired by Japanese anime and gaming culture, the bizarre garb was designed to make a statement and celebrate everything that is unique about Milton Keynes.
Manager Karl Robinson said of the outfit: “I’m so proud of our players for taking ownership of this Ugly Sweater campaign and for dressing up in something so different and quirky! I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I hope everyone who sees it takes away something positive from it.”
Fans were also encouraged to dress up in their ugliest sweaters for the final game of the season against Preston North End, with all money raised going to charity. As predicted, plenty of people went along to Highbury wearing ridiculous outfits, including one very angry chicken who showed his disapproval of his home team’s promotion rivals.
