Netflix’s popular series concluded its overarching storyline in the season 3 finale, where John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) struck gold—literally—after discovering the El Dorado treasure and receiving public acclaim for their treasure-hunting exploits. However, the newly released season 4 trailer reveals that the Pogues are finally enjoying some much-needed downtime at home.
Yet, as expected (though perhaps not by the Pogues themselves), they can’t resist the allure of adventure for long. The trailer confirms the hints from the season 3 finale: the Pogues are drawn back into the treasure-hunting game by an enigmatic benefactor.
This time, their motivation is financial necessity. The footage shows the Pogues investing all their gold earnings into creating Poguelandia 2.0, a community space they live in and manage together, leading them to confront a pressing $13,000 bill due in just a week. This financial crunch pushes them to embark on a new mission: uncovering Blackbeard’s hidden treasure.
As they’ve discovered over three seasons, treasure hunting is fraught with danger. The trailer teases a glimpse of the challenges ahead—brawls, fires, and assassination attempts—along with escalating rivalries with Topper (Austin North) and Rafe (Drew Starkey). As Kiara ominously puts it, it’s them against the world.
“They return to the Outer Banks and recreate what they had on the island, but this time, it’s even better: Poguelandia 2.0,” showrunner Jonas Pate shared with Entertainment Weekly. “They genuinely build their own paradise. The season focuses on their efforts to safeguard what they’ve created at home.”
