Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Ordered to Pay Over $100 Million in Sexual Assault Case

In a significant legal development, Sean “Diddy” Combs has been ordered to pay more than $100 million following a sexual assault case. According to a recent default judgment, Michigan Judge Anna Marie Anzalone has mandated that Combs pay $100,000,310.40 to Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, the plaintiff who alleged that Combs drugged and sexually assaulted him in Detroit back in 1997.

The judgment came after Combs failed to appear at the court hearing, leading to the court’s decision in favor of Cardello-Smith. This ruling was confirmed through court filings obtained by Entertainment Weekly.

In response to the judgment, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, issued a statement characterizing Cardello-Smith as a “convicted felon and sexual predator.” Agnifilo contended that Combs was unaware of both Cardello-Smith and the lawsuit itself, expressing optimism that the judgment would be overturned swiftly.

Cardello-Smith, currently 51, is incarcerated at the Earnest C. Brooks Correctional Facility, serving sentences for 14 counts of criminal sexual conduct, as confirmed by public inmate records.

Entertainment Weekly has sought comment from the Lenawee County Circuit Court regarding the case.

This legal issue adds to a series of allegations against Combs, including accusations from his former partner, recording artist Cassie, who sued him in November 2023. Cassie alleged that Combs raped and physically abused her. Despite Combs’ legal representative’s denial of these claims, a video surfaced showing Combs physically assaulting Cassie in 2016. Following the video’s release, Combs admitted to hitting rock bottom and expressed regret for his behavior in an Instagram video, though he also asserted that the behavior depicted was inexcusable.
