Valerie Bertinelli recently opened up in an emotional video on Instagram, revealing a difficult and vulnerable moment. The former Food Network host shared footage of her hand trembling and described having experienced her most intense anxiety attack in years.

“Earlier today, I was crying uncontrollably, and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. I couldn’t stop shaking,” Bertinelli captioned the video. “I know I’m taking a risk by sharing this, but I believe I’m not the only one out there who’s felt this way.”

In her post, Bertinelli explained the challenging process of working through the attack and the energy it takes to regain calm. She described how she almost feels detached during these moments, solely focused on calming down and trying to return to a more peaceful state.

“I know it’s my mind overthinking and spiraling, but my body reacts intensely, and I can’t control it,” she shared. “Even hours later, after using meditation and EMDR techniques to help ease the feeling, my body still hasn’t fully settled.”

The actress and lifestyle personality wanted her followers to know that they’re not alone if they’ve also struggled with severe anxiety. She expressed her fascination with the human body’s response to complex, overwhelming emotions and hoped to connect with others who also need time to fully recover from these episodes.

“Does anyone else experience intense anxiety, and then find it takes a while to calm down afterward? Please tell me I’m not the only one out here,” she wrote, adding, “And if you’ve found something that helps, please share. I wanted to be a little vulnerable here so others know they’re not alone.”

Earlier this year, Bertinelli also spoke with People about another recent health milestone—she’s been sober for over six months. “Life can still be tough, but I’m able to get clear on what I need to do more quickly,” she shared in July. “I feel good when I wake up. I’m not groggy or questioning myself. I’m just present and ready for the day.”
